How to measure and send your team's sizes

Uniforms are cut once the sizes are in, so one complete list for the whole team is the quickest way to your delivery date. Standard sizes are fine; measurements make the fit better.

  1. 1

    Chest

Around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms, with the tape level.

  2. 2

Around the body where the pant will be worn.

  3. 3

    Hip

Around the widest part of the hips (for pants, scrubs and boiler suits).

  4. 4

    Shoulder

Across the back, from one shoulder tip to the other.

  5. 5

    Sleeve

From the shoulder tip down to the wrist, or to where a half sleeve should end.

  6. 6

    Shirt length

From the highest point of the shoulder, beside the collar, down to where the shirt should end.

  7. 7

    Pant length

Down the outside of the leg, from the waist to just above the heel.

Tips

Getting it right first time

  • Measure in inches with a soft tailor's tape, over a thin shirt rather than a jacket.
  • Keep the tape snug but not tight; one finger should slide under it.
  • Note if someone prefers a looser or a closer fit.
  • For boiler suits worn over other clothes, choose one size bigger.
  • A standard size (S, M, L, XL or 38, 40, 42) for each person is fine too; we'll ask if anything is unclear.

The size sheet

One row per person: name, department, uniform, standard size or measurements, quantity and notes. It opens in Excel or Google Sheets. A photo of a handwritten list works too.
